Sounds like a good start. What about frequency of the event (once on Sundays or daily or whenever there is staff on)?

I like your idea, possibly with a few tweaks. Maybe we could do 5v5 with some sort of system where you play the best of 3 as both offense and defense alternating, with a home/away team to decide which one they get twice. I don't like the cleared 3 times thing, because IMO there are a lot of cheese ways to do that.

But best of three with O and D could potentially last 1.5 hours. I wa sthinking just base it on time taken to win.

I'm not sure of the swapping sides at half time, it kind of means you either need everyone to multiclass (which screws people like me :P) or you need more than 5 people (probably about 7) which is basically a squad.

Is there any value in having people either enter as an O team or a D team, and run two separate tournaments; all the Os compete with each other as to how long it takes them to beat each D, and each D competes with each other as to how quickly they can clear the Os.

Or we could just hop right into next season before this league fades for good. Just food for thought.

Fix what precisely? Draft league is stupid to begin with and while this is indeed a creative idea, I personally don't really care to participate in a 5v5 OvD league. I'm sure i'm not the only person that shares this sentiment. I guess what i'm trying to say is I don't want to wait another 2 months for the start of the season because we have a draft league that 85% of the population doesn't give 2 shits about, and in the meantime even more people leave an already dwindling player pool. I think the concept of an OvD league would appeal to a great deal of people if it was to function as a seperate entity from PL, I just think we need to commence the next season ASAP if we want to sustain a decent amount of squads in PL.

Do you mean the Draft league which lasted 3 weeks meaning the last season started a 5 weeks after it ended last season (Including Thanks Giving) or theDraft League before that which lasted 2 weeks meaning the season started 4 weeks after season 16 ended.

I guess what i'm trying to say is get your facts straight before you start talking.

The season will start in a month or less just like it always has done in the past.

I've tried pushing an OvD league for a while. It was designed to be very informal and just to take up time. Since people are always playing OvDs anyways, just record the results. Players get picked to captain like they always do, D picks first, O picks next, like always.

Record the captains' results for winning.

Captains with the most wins get to pick from a pool of 15-20 guys with the most wins at the end of it for the championship. Or you can make it a bit more complicated and record how each individual player and captain do specifically on O/D. Then for the championship, the captain with the most D victories gets to pick from the players with the most D victories and so on so forth. If there is a conflict (i.e. Flair has the most O victories and D victories, he could be in a either or pool of players with similar situation).

I was just thinking 2 weekends of it before the season starts for a bit of fun. If it works we'll take it from there.

DRAFT LEAGUE, after we draft players we play 5 games imo

And btw no preseason at all serves no purpose once so ever lets get the regular season going in like 2-3 weeks times tops.

Some form of break between seasons is pretty important.

I'm pretty sure most people have come to the conclusion the regular season is boring. It drags along too long. Many matches end up being little 10 minute no-contests. Not sure why you want to rush back into it Sinn!

Draft league is really helpful for getting new players into the league, ovd leagues are not. The drafting part forces vets to at least take a look at brand new players.

I just don't want a draft league since Joe won't be captaining a draft squad and I more than likely won't be a second round choice this time.

I liked the idea, and also liked this focus on doign something to keep the league alive.

Do this 5x5, but plz FOCUS on bringing new ppl. Need to be more receptive with new players, and start teaching them. PL is differente of pub... The teams could be formed like it is on DL.. a capt picking, that way, every1 will play.

The rules need to be worked on, being cleared 3 times sounds reasonable to score a point for the opposing team.
Will we use a timer like before? Or get (all) flags out to win, no matter how long it takes as long as you don't get cleared??

I like the idea of creating tiny groups and have them play O/D it will improve everyone their multiclassing ability.. Plus the extra fun :p

score certain things certain points. such as getting cleared(on offence) once is 1 or 2 points but getting cleared on defense is 5 points and you have until the flags are out of the base to get back. etc

just do duel league. I will devastate all of you.
